A paper sketch comes to life
Out of this creative flow the designer draws turns this idea into a sketch of the frame using pencil and paper. This sketch serves as the pattern for creating the so-called original blank of the frame.
In the next step the designer files, naturally by hand, the original form of what will become the collection frame from a block of plastic, just like a sculpture.
In this way one might say that the paper sketch comes to life with the designer’s sense of form and aesthetics and manual dexterity.
Milling, sanding and polishing
In the same way hours of handwork are applied to make the necessary tools and equipment for the hand milling machines used to finish the frames.
Only when the preparations have been completed can the production of the new frames begin. Where the blank frames are created – in the workshop – the hand milling machines hum for many hours. Then they are sent to the sanding and polishing room for several days. In the next step the sidepieces are adjusted and the joints to the middle piece are sande and polished – by hand of course.
Materials and Colours
The frame materials are made individually for the manufacture according to the desires and specifications of the designer. Unique and precious acetate sheets made from special resins, aluminium, titanium or innovatively designed buffalo horn.
The hallmark of the manufactory and the designer are the frame colours. Every single colour, all colour combi-nations and colour play are reconceived again and again by the designer in the colour department where they are revised and adapted to the colour fashions of the seasons.
Any individual colour request can be fulfilled because every colour is individually composed.
Unique artisanal work
All ideas originate with the designer personally and the designer himself performs all the work by hand. He is only assisted by his own machines to perform this unique artisanal work.
The manual production and the play of form, colour and material only permit a production volume no larger than 300 pieces per model.
